Five Minute Apple Crisp

You heard me.  Five minutes.  First, you start by thinly slicing an apple (I used Granny Smith) and placing it in a bowl with a generous sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.  Cover and microwave for three minutes.  The apple will become soft and sweet and cooked.  This would be a fantastic, quick, healthy dessert in and of itself.  I love eating a simple dish of cooked apple as a finish to a fall meal.  But today, I wanted to kick things up a notch.  So I sprinkled a little bit of plain farmer’s market granola over the top and garnished with a spoonful of good vanilla bean ice cream.  Does that look delicious or does that look delicious?

I ate my dessert with a mug of herbal tea.  Tart apple, crunchy granola, and creamy ice cream.  Utterly satisfying.  And very in keeping with the Hil principles of dessert.
